blanket of sky | spatialized wind ensemble

(2015)

“blanket of sky” was written for the Arizona State University Wind Ensemble and premiered December 3, 2015 outside in the W.P. Carey Business School courtyard at Arizona State University.  The following video contains excerpts from that premiere.

The work was part of a program of new spatialized large ensemble works in collaboration with the Redshift Music Society. This work is most effective when it is considered a human sonic installation, and an outside venue should be chosen that is both architecturally interesting and acoustically rich. Performers should be mixed and spread apart around the audience for a completely immersive musical experience.
