pulse | clarinet choir

(2015)

"Pulse" for clarinet choir is a fast-paced and engaging work that uses constant meter changes and rhythmic ostinatos to create forward-moving energy. As rhythmic layers are added to the texture, melodic lines begin to emerge, all while maintaining rhythmic intensity and propulsive motion. Pulse is dedicated to Dr. Robert Spring, Dr. Joshua Gardner, and the clarinet studio at Arizona State Unviersity.

The piece had its international premiere at the International Clarinet Associaition's ClarinetFest in 2016 in Lawrence KS.

instrumentation:  clarinet in Eb, 5 clarinets in Bb, 3 bass clarinets
